Alpro Social Fund: Communal sustainability after work

Through the Alpro Social Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, we support internal and external projects for a better society, projects in which Alpro staff and their families are involved.

As well as the projects selected and approved by the Fund Management, all our staff can also make a formal application to the Fund for a project with which they're closely involved. As well as the selection committee, all our employees can vote for them. We are very proud of the way in which our staff are also giving their free time after work for a better world.

1. A dream weekend for children (thanks to Eric Verbeiren, International Marketing Manager Culinary, Gent)

A donation of 3.000€

This project, organised by Boks VZW, aims to provide a dream weekend for around 60 children suffering from metabolic diseases, and their families.

2. Fresh, healthy and affordable (thanks to Ini Retoré, Supplier Quality & Quality Systems Manager, Wevelgem)

A donation of 2.500€

De Habbekrats VZW offers disadvantaged young people, aged between 10 and 21 years old, the opportunity to spend high quality free time in friendly, easy-access meeting places where they can enjoy a healthy meal. The VZW also teaches them values, standards and social skills through various training courses.

3. Preventing malnutrition amongst senior citizens (thanks to Kurt Ghesquiere, Operator SMA Bricks, Wevelgem)

The Sint-Camillus VZW nursing home, which has about 140 elderly residents, has started a project to identify malnutrition in its early stages and to provide appropriate treatment.

Malnutrition Matters is a Canadian-registered, non-profit organization, dedicated to providing sustainable low cost food technology solutions for malnutrition, primarily by using soya, but also cereals, grains, fruits and vegetables.

The United Fund for Belgium mainly supports charitable organisations which focus on child welfare, poverty reduction, supporting handicapped people, social inclusion and education.

3. SOS Tacloban - Reconstruction of the STEFTI-school

St. Therese Educational Foundation of Tacloban Inc. or STEFTI is a private and Catholic school based in Tacloban City for pre-Elementary, Elementary and Secondary education run by Christian Catholic educators. The school was established in 2001, has 2 campuses and more than 2,100 students.
